This was exactly the case with MERCEDES apartment – an absolutely fabulous, ingenious and luxurious accommodation in the very heart of Belgrade. This apartment stands as a monument to an enetrprise in interior design which exceeded the frameworks of existing categories and created a class of its own. We dedicate the following review to it. The adaptaion and furbishment of this luxurious apartment in Belgrade literally reaves the senses with its quality and thoroughness and bears traits of systematicity not typical of the Balkans. In contrast, location is among the few that depict the prewar (in other words, non-social-realist -commieblock) glory and feel of Belgrade. This synergy of tradition and top notch quality, reminded our top management of the virtues of the German auto industry giants, an inspired the unusual name. They share the same qualities, except for one (and for that one you’d have to scroll to the end of the text).
In a very agreeable part of Belgrade (Upper Dorcol), and one of the rare alleys in Belgrade coronalled in the folliage, hides a residence that was once the building of the court. As you climb the staircase adorned with the iron wrought balustrade, you would expect to find a bunch of aging, fusty pre war salons smelling like old people and scented oils from the turn of the 20th century, hiding behind each of the double doors. Therefore, once you get across the doorstep of Mercedes apartment, you may be under a strong impression that you have crossed a portal to another dimension. Glittering white overtones of the antre usher you into the angelic atmosphere of 100 square meters of pure bliss.
Living Room
On your right hand side, is the heavenly bright and tastfully designed living room. The furniture of this airy space consists of a large L shaped sofa (which can serve as an additional bed in case of urgency), a club table and a TV shelf for a decent sized flat screen TV with an enormous number of TV chanells. It also contains a functional fireplace, but given the insulation of this serviced apartment and the number of heating elements in it, you are fairly unlikely to need it. Classy lightswitches regulate the two different types of luminaries coming from the suspened drywall ceiling and the light coming from the recessed shelf in the wall, integrates smoothly into the impeccably upkept ambiance. In addition to natural light, the room has daylightnig coming from the French balcony.
Bay window dining room and the study
The large rectangular space between the bedroom, kitchen and the living room has been fully utilized and functionally divided in two – the study and the dining area. A voluminous desk and an armchair befitting a board member of PWC spell convenience and comfort and the glazed shelf behind it ensures tidiness. The dining table is practical and suitable for all purposes. Realizing how conspicuopsly stupid and sensless previous sentence may have sounded, we’d exclude plastering the walls from this table’s range of utilizations, and concentrate on the fact that its current constellation of chairs enables plenty of sitting space for up to six adults. Home rules prohibit acts of copulation and gambling on it. The bay window of the dining hall gives you a 180 degrees view over the lovely street. Should you wish to rest, a simple click of the button and electric shutters will curtail the hustle and bustle of the street during the weekends.
Bedroom
The sliding glass door will pleasantly surpise the fans of Star Trek. The enterprise behind them (pun intended) hides a large double bed, gigantic wardrobe and another door that connects the room to the bathroom and kitchen – making all of the rooms interconnected.
The bathroom tells a story of its own. Or to put it more precisely, its fairytale. Its volume exceeds some of the studio apartments in our offer and treasures a little temple of hygene. Two washing basins, multitude of mirrors, a jacuzzi jetted bathtub, hydromassage shower and as a cherry on top – a fully equipped sauna. Yes, all of them comprise this spectacular endeavor in interior design and provide a full banya like treatment that would exert a journey of many miles were MERCEDES not in the offer. This feature alone justifies every cent spent on this short term rental in Belgrade, but even that is not the whole story.
The kitchen has a lovely breakfast bar with two equally lovely stools. It blends in perfectly with the apartment in terms of materials, nuances and the undisptued orderliness of shapes. It is fully equipped and very contemporary in style – all of the necesarry kitchenware is there including the top quality appliances. The countertops have their own luminaries and the cupboards where the glassware is stored is also lit. Preparing a meal in Mercedes provides a functionally gratifying and aesthetically pleasing experience.

The back of the kitchen holds an exit to a small terrace with recessed lights on the floor and courtyard view. Snuggled in back façade, it spreads an air of tranquility and peace. Next to it is a detached washing room, which, coupled with an abundance of storage space makes the apartment very suitable for extended stays. Owing to the intercom with a video surveilance, there is a fat chance of being surprised by the intruders, and the large steel entrance door poses a serious obstacle, even if they’re equipped with smaller caliber cannons.
Backyard terrace – apartment Mercedes
MERCEDES boasts many things – a phonemenal and contemporary design, an abundance of space, an extraordinary functionality and outstanding convenience. Until recently, it would have been unthinkable to find it in the open market of short term vacation rentals in Belgrade – but its’s found its way to the niche and now stands taller than the rest of the apartments in our offer. The reasons for its sudden availabilty might spur an interesting debate and get you to all sorts of conclusons, however we wil not delve into the matter. The Golden Age of vacation rentals in Belgrade is nascent and questioning the affordability and the broad spectrum of choices it brought forth would be depressing to say the least.
Ironically, one thing that MERCEDES is lacking is a garage or an adequate parking spot . On street parking is available, but since its nestled in the most central part of the city (ZONE1) it is limited to just an hour.
